Imagining A World Where John Lennon Turned 75
John Lennon would have turned 75 on October 9 if his life wasn’t cut short on December 8 1980 by a deranged gunman. The story of how 4 lads from Liverpool took the world by storm with the release of Abbey Road in the summer of 1969 is well told. When I was a student in London I used to walk by the Beatles Coffee Shop near the iconic zebra crossing The Beatles made famous practically every day. I listened to John Lennon then, and I still listen to him now. Of the 4 Beatles, John Lennon would probably have been the one who remained the most culturally relevant today given his songwriting talent. Maybe, just maybe, his songs and tweets (he would have taken to Twitter surely) would have stopped some of the violence and madness going on in the world if he was still alive today.

If you’re in New York this weekend, take a moment to go Strawberry Fields in Central Park and wish John happy birthday.
